The staff and volunteers at Sunflower have risen to the very real challenge of getting Frank's attention and interest, and he now stays there three days a week. Mavis can relax her vigilance and enjoy those three days each week, knowing that Frank is safe, secure and happy.

CAREGIVER SUPPORT

Providing education and support for caregivers is an important part of the mission of Sunflower Adult Day Services.

Being a caregiver for another adult can be a challenging role. Chances are that when you took on that role, you had neither formal training nor previous experience as a caregiver. If you are like most people, you are learning how to be a caregiver by jumping in and doing it.

At Sunflower, we believe that by providing caregiver information, support and access to resources, we can help you in your commitment to keep your loved one at home. This takes several forms:

One-on-One Consultation with Care Staff
Our nursing and care staff are always ready to talk with you about your caregiving situation. You will find that they have a wealth of helpful information and problem-solving ideas.

Caregiver Education and Self-Help Support Group
Getting together with other caregivers is a great way to learn real-life, practical strategies for caregiving. It is also a positive, constructive way to both give and receive encouragement. The Alzheimer’s Support & Education Group is meeting every Tuesday at 1pm at Eaglecrest Retirement Community. Location 1501 E. Magnolia, Salina. Contact Jerri @ 785.820.7226. This support group will also provide financial assistance to families who attend Sunflower as well as those needing home care.
